Belouizdad dominated the game and took revenge for their 2-1 loss to Medeama in the previous encounter between the two sides.

Midfielder Abdelraouf Benguit scored in the 27th minute, and Cameroonian attacker Leonel Wamba increased the lead. Lamin Jallow, a Gambian attacker, scored the third goal to seal the victory.

In another encounter, Al Ahly defeated Young Africans 1-0, and both teams advanced to the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, Medeama’s quest ended, as did Belouizdad’s.

Despite the unfortunate result, Medeama can be proud of their debut campaign, since they advanced to the group stage after overcoming significant hurdles in the qualifying rounds, including a famous victory over Guinean giants AC Horoya.
