Asante Kotoko has finalized the signing of seasoned defender Zackaria Fuseini from Berekum Chelsea, gaining the services of one of the Ghana Premier League’s most dependable centre-backs for the next season.
The 27-year-old, who has been a mainstay in Chelsea’s backline for nearly a decade, signed a three-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors following a spectacular season in which he appeared in 31 league matches, scoring three goals and assisting once.

Fuseini’s arrival is a crucial step forward in Kotoko’s ongoing rebuilding efforts following a poor 2024-25 season.
Fuseini, known for his calm demeanor, tactical understanding, and commanding leadership at the back, is expected to play an important part in stabilizing Kotoko’s defense.
His appointment comes on the strong recommendation of coach Abdul Karim Zito, who is set to be announced as the club’s next permanent head coach in the coming days.
Fuseini will also see some familiar faces in Kumasi, including former Chelsea colleagues Lord Amoah, Patrick Asiedu, and Henry Ansu.
The reunion promises better chemistry and coherence, particularly on defense.
Kotoko fans will be hoping that Fuseini’s wealth of experience and winning mindset will usher in a new era of success for the club as they strive to return to Ghana’s football peak.
