Court adjourns Cruise People Limited, Black Sherif case to November 16

The Cruise People Limited and Black Sherif lawsuit has been postponed by the Adenta High Court until November 16, 2023.

Both sides have been ordered by the court to present their legal defenses by November 2, 2023.

The main argument centers on jurisdiction. Black Sherif maintains that the Adenta High Court has jurisdiction because both parties are Ghanaian businesses doing business there, but Cruise People Limited counters that the contract designates the United Kingdom as the proper jurisdiction.

For background, it should be mentioned that Cruise People Limited had contracted Black Sherif’s management for a performance at their musical cruise event, “Afro Cruise Jam,” set for August 19, 2023, in Greece.

The business gave Black Sherif a $20,000 initial deposit in anticipation of the event’s success and asked for a video confirmation of his participation.

Black Sherif did not, however, deliver the promised footage, which resulted in the cancellation of cabins on the cruise liner and a revised plan for the media meeting.

After unsuccessful attempts at a peaceful resolution, Cruise People Limited filed a lawsuit against Black Sherif, accusing him of breaching a contract.

Whether the matter goes to a full trial or is dismissed will depend on the court’s ruling on jurisdiction. The legal reasons that both sides must present by November 2, 2023, will be crucial in determining how the lawsuit will proceed.
