Davido, the Afrobeats star, is set to receive a national honor as an Officer of the National Order of Niger (OON).

The recipients of the 2023 National Awards include Davido, filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, and 337 other notable Nigerians.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs announced the award in various cadres.

David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has been named an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

Kunle Afolayan, a multi-award-winning filmmaker, was also given the OON.

Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian footballer, has been named an MFR (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic). Napoli won its first Serie A title in 33 years thanks to Victor’s goal.

Terry Waya, a socialite and businessman, was also inducted into the OFR (Order of the Federal Republic) cadre.

All 2023 national award winners have been asked to submit a soft copy of their citation or resume to the ministry by May 31.

The recipients are also expected to be physically present for the collection of their medals and certificates on June 1, 2023.
