Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2026.
The Dutchman, who joined the club in 2022, has had a mixed stint, but he has demonstrated enough promise to gain the club’s trust for a longer-term commitment.

“I am very pleased to have reached an agreement with the club to continue working together,” said the 54-year-old manager. “Looking back at the past two years, we can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression from where we were when I joined. However, we must also be clear that there is still lots of hard work ahead.”
During Ten Hag’s first season at Old Trafford, United finished third in the Premier League and broke their six-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup against Newcastle.
However, his second season was more difficult, with United finishing eighth in the Premier League and being eliminated from the Champions League group stage. Despite these defeats, Ten Hag’s job was secured with a vital 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final in May.
Ten Hag, who formerly managed Ajax, has won two titles in two years at Manchester United.

The club’s board structure has changed significantly since Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a 27.7% share in the club, with the goal of bringing more stability and long-term success.
Sporting director Dan Ashworth showed trust in Ten Hag’s leadership: “This group of players and staff have already shown they are capable of competing and winning at the top level; now we need to do it more consistently. With our strengthened football leadership team now in place, we are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with Erik to achieve our shared ambitions for this football club.”
Erik ten Hag will lead the Red Devils in the Europa League next season, as well as their local competitions, as he builds on the foundations created over the last two years.
