One of Ghana’s top female rappers, Eno Barony, has revealed that she is not accepted by some members of her family because she chose a path that was completely different to them by pursuing rap music.
In an interview with 3Music TV, the rapper stated that as a child of a pastor, her family expected her to be extremely religious.
She addressed the issue of how children of pastors are put in a box, and are not allowed to explore their talents, once they are considered ‘worldly’.

Eno said, “I have seen a lot of pastors’ children who are also talented, not just music-wise, but they want to do other stuff, but because they are children of pastors, they are being told not to do it. And it always makes me reflect back to my past, and it’s not even the … maybe, I have seen that its just my dad that’s okay with me. It’s not my whole family that is okay with me doing rap.
“There are some side of my family that I can’t go. I only go where I am accepted. I am not somebody who wants to mingle. If you don’t want me here, I won’t come. Mind you, I am still the same girl they know before music. Because when I go to my dad’s house, I go in a different look.
“I was born without piercings, I pierced my ears when I was in tertiary. It’s like when I go home, I don’t wear earrings, I don’t wear a necklace, I don’t wear trousers. My religious background is the strict strict kinda religious background that we didn’t even have to perm our hair and stuff. So its like, a lot of people actually think I am the devil now.”
