The amazing artist opened up about her difficult experience, bringing light on the industry’s dark side and the toll it can take on an artist’s mental and emotional health.
While speaking about her long fight with cyberbullying, the ‘Uber driver’ hitmaker revealed that she had reached a breaking point and took the difficult decision to quit reading comments on her social media posts. She went on to say that the constant torrent of nasty words, insults, insulting messages, and death threats she has received has had a significant impact on her self-esteem and emotional well-being.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Hitz FM’s Andy Dosty on Monday, March 11, 2024, the award-winning crooner said that cyberbullying has not only harmed her mental health but has also caused her to miss out on crucial deals and performances.
She described how she had a potential opportunity with Thriller but missed it since she did not receive the direct message on time.
Nonetheless, she stays resilient and motivated to overcome the negativity, encouraging her fans and followers to express love and kindness rather than hatred.
“I don’t read comments anymore, my managers do that for me. They read and give me feedback on any necessary information. Just once in a while, I go through my socials, other than that, it is a conscious effort to block out the trolls.
” You know people create accounts just to bully me. I don’t report them because it is difficult to track a faceless person and find them,” she said.
Wendy Shay’s disclosure underscores the pervasive issue of online harassment, as well as the toxicity that some artists experience while pursuing their passion. Social media networks, while wonderful tools for connection and advertising, can also foster negativity and animosity.
