Kotoko secure narrow win over Gold Stars

Asante Kotoko emerged victorious with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Bibiani Gold Stars in a tight showdown on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The closely contested encounter saw the home side rebound from a disappointing defeat to Heart of Lions in the previous week.

Kotoko made their breakthrough in the first half when Peter Amidu capitalized on a superb passing sequence, successfully finding the net while Gold Stars struggled to cope with the growing situation.

The Porcupine Warriors won decisively, taking all three points and rebounding from their loss to Heart of Lions. This victory momentarily boosts Kotoko to second place in the rankings, closing the gap with the leading team to only three points and confirming their status as title contenders.

Despite Gold Stars’ promising start following their victory against Berekum Chelsea last week, they were unable to match Kotoko’s effort, eventually losing the match and the crucial three points.

Gold Stars are now safely above the relegation zone, separated by just three points.

The 2021/22 champions are now preparing for their next test, hoping to maintain their winning streak when they play Karela United in their upcoming match.

The Porcupine Warriors are keen to move up the standings and remain in contention for the championship.
