Few female names in African cinema shine as brightly as Shirley Frimpong Manso’s.
As a prolific Ghanaian producer and director, the CEO of Sparrows Pictures has consistently delivered exceptional storytelling that captivates audiences and movie lovers, but she remains relatively unknown in the larger entertainment industry.
Actress Luckie Lawson believes it is past time to recognize and celebrate Manso’s contributions on a global scale.

Shirley, according to Luckie, is doing extremely well for herself because she has received numerous accolades for her ability to thrive in a male-dominated environment.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Ms Lawson explained that, “Shirley needs to be celebrated for her contribution to the growth of Ghana’s movie industry. The producer/director role is mostly dominated by the men but Shirley has proven to be one of the best movie producers challenging the man and doing so well and I really admire her for that.”
Shirley’s resilient spirit has earned Lucky great admiration, and he aspires to be like her. She went on to say that she has always admired Shirley from afar and that it is important for her to express how she feels about her.
According to the actress who recently collaborated with Shirley on her new show “Madam,” she is delighted to have gained more experience.
