Spain secured a dramatic extra-time victory over hosts Germany to reach the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
The match at Stuttgart Arena lived up to its reputation as the tournament’s most anticipated battle thus far, with Spain winning 2-1.
Dani Olmo started the score for Spain early in the second half, but Florian Wirtz’s late equalizer sent the game to overtime. Both teams came close to winning, with Unai Simon making an important stop for Spain.

Just when penalties appeared to be inevitable, Mikel Merino scored the winning goal in the dying seconds to put Spain through.
Spain full back Dani Carvajal was sent off just before the finish for a second yellow card, but it did not detract from the celebrations, as Spanish supporters and players greeted the final whistle with delight and relief.
They will now play either France or Portugal in the next round.
